I'm still here! I just haven't really had the time to post lately, sorry---but here's something to hold you over until I get to posting more releases. It's a pretty diverse set of some of my favorite tracks I've found on blogs and the internet recently.
You should check out TheeBradMiller's TBM Radio site. He does something very similar to this , with some podcasts of great industrial musick and great exploitation film screen shots.
(I added some links for the tracks-- so you can go to the respective blogs I got them from and download the album)
tracklist:
Philippe Laurent - Desordre Et Distorsion
Kosa Nostra - For The Best
Brigade Internationale - Remember My Death
Moments Présents - A.D.
Le Syndicat - Le Statent Du Lepreux
Mad Tea Party - Modern Time's Pop
MLD - Perpetual Motion
Two Daughters - So I
32 Guájar's Fáragüit - Preterpret
Ain Soph - Credo (G. Kremmerz)

Vidna Obmana

Gathering In Frozen Beauty (Cassette, The Decade Collection, 1989, Belgium)
1. Dazzling Array 1
2. Lost In The Swirling Distance
3. Dazzling Array 2
4. Before Mutual Grace
5. Upon Steels Heaven
6. Into Grey Divides
7. Gathering In Frozen Beauty
From Discogs:
| "Belgian composer Dirk Serries chose the name Vidna Obmana for his musical persona because it means "optical illusion." in Serbian language. Thirteen years hence, Vidna Obmana still finds that the name gives him a feeling of freedom to place his music first, before his own personality and philosophy. Like water, Vidna Obmana continues to change form over his musical career. As a self-taught electronic musician, Vidna Obmana explored different musical areas before discovering the techniques of looping and shaping harmonies, merging layers of sound and minimizing the configurations to a few notes. His style of atmospheric music creates trance-like states in listeners who understand the language of sound." |
Gorgeous minimal ambient release.

Oveo
Ancient TV (CDr, Self-Released, 2007, US)
1. Ancient TV
Here is a nice document of the experimental scene in my town- Denton, Texas. Oveo was a project of two prolific local musicians, Jason Moore and Andrew Michael. Ancient TV is their minimal dronescape masterpiece. They utilize various electronics and effect treatments. AM's signature Korg drum machine gives a pulse throughout the 18 minute long piece, while foggy, lush, meditative sounds wash in and out. For fans of any dark ambient music...

Henri Roger

Images... (LP, Tapioca, 1975, France)
1. Images...
2. Au Delà Du Langage
3. Ataraxie
4. Asyle Cosmique
Instrumental cosmic music from France. Great sounds coming from early Korg synths, and some Yamaha organs. Very cool record to sleep to, or to do whatever to. Thanks to my friend David for turning me on to this record. Looks like Mutant Sounds has some other records from this record label, I'm sure those are interesting too.

The Litanies Of Satan (LP, Y Records, 1982, UK)
1. The Litanies Of Satan
2. Wild Women With Steak-Knives
Excellent, scary, out there album. I'm sure this has been posted by many blogs before, but anyone that hasn't heard this needs to. It's not a record you listen to every day or anything. Side A is for voice, tape, and electronics. Side B is "for solo scream."

5. Seance
6. I Ching
7. Cabala
8. The Unexplained
9. Wind Dance
Ataraxia is one of the many pseudonyms that the prolific synthesizer composer, Mort Garson, goes by. This is said to be his "sequel" to Black Mass. Excellent synth tunes centered around occult themes, you can't go wrong! More early synth composer stuff to come...

What I've Been Working On
Sorry for the lack of posting lately. I have been working on many different projects, and working close to 50 hours a week. I can offer you a few things to check out if you're interested. A long time friend/bandmate and I have been trying to get a small electronics business off the ground. In the last couple of weeks we've finished our first prototype-- a 3 octave monophonic synthesizer, the LZX Industries Monolith. We made a video demo of it, and were excited to find out that it was featured on Matrix Synth the next day. You can check out that video here:
We've also been working under a new title musically, and we've cut a few new tracks which you can listen to here:
PHANTASTES
Both tracks were recorded live in our studio with:
LZX Monolith (above)
8Z8 (Our Roland TR-808 Clone)
CGS Cynare
Thomas Henry's UD1 & Clangora
MFOS Oscillators & ENV Generators
MIDIbox SEQ v3
I've been busy! Now that internet is on at my new place, I'll be getting back to posting shortly.

17. Paay - 4
18. Paay - 3b
Wonderful compilation of synth experimentation from 1982. This was previously posted by No Longer Forgotten Music about a year ago, but it was unindexed, which made it pretty difficult to differentiate between bands/songs.
Minimal Wave reissued the Sluik tracks from here on to a 7 inch, but it looks like they're all sold out.
Get this. It's wonderful.

1. To Speak
2. To Walk, To Run
3. To Duck, To Dive
4. This
5. Seven Year
6. Atlas
Peculiar experimental/industrial album from Bruce Gilbert and Graham Lewis. Really hard to explain this one, it's pretty out there. I'm not sure if the "industrial" tag is even correct. "This" is one of the strangest/coolest songs I've ever heard.

Violent Squid

I wanted to take a minute to talk about an artist from my town, Denton, TX.
This brain-melter culture-jammer improvisational group is probably one of the most interesting things going on around here. My friend, Ty Stamp, is the main instigator. A while back he made a mix that I posted here. The music may or may not be any direct influence on Violent Squid, but it's a pretty bizarre mix of sublime frequencies style foreign tunes, and some more contemporary experimental artists.
I've seen Violent Squid as a drum trio... a small army of musicians playing guitars/electronics/phototheremins/metal boxes with springs... a "turntabalist" was involved one time (and it was not as stupid as that sounds!)... I even jam with them on occasion. The only constant member is usually Ty.
I caught them last Saturday at a local club. I was a bit too inebriated to pay attention, but thankfully, Ty recorded the whole thing.
You can find that recording, a funny video, and almost ALL of their other live and studio recordings for download at Ty's blog:
violent squid autopsy
I'm going to be posting some more releases from my favorite dfw artists in the near future.

Trevor Wishart

Journey Into Space (CD, Paradigm Discs, 2005, UK)
1. Birth Dream
2. Journey
3. Arrival
Self-released originally in 1973 as a 2xLP, then re-released by Colin Potter's label, ICR, on cassette and then once again on this disc. Strange experimental tape collage music, certainly way ahead of its time. Reminds me of some Nurse With Wound or Étant Donnés at times. This album's a pretty big head trip.
More Trevor Wishart can be downloaded here.

Discussion
I recently put up an album that I found in SoulSeek. I uploaded it here, because I liked it. I did not rip the mp3s myself. Is there something wrong with that? The person that ripped these files and put them in their SHARED folder, seemed to think so.
I'm very frustrated with this unwritten "rule book" for music blogging. I am doing this because I love music, playing music, music is MY LIFE. I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes. I'm not trying to say I'm better than anyone, and I'm not trying to get cool points. I'm not attempting to take credit (?) for uploading things first. I'm not even sure what "taking credit" for uploading music that isn't your own means anyway.
If anyone has anything to say about this... leave a comment. If not, that's fine too! I'm going to continue doing what I do.
